In 2016 it was proposed and agreed by Inverness Shinty Club that all youth shinty would be inclusive and the club would work towards developing the Inverness Shinty Academy.
The aim of the Shinty Academy is to increase levels of participation for young people, increase player skill levels and ultimately make young players feel part of a local community club.
The ethos of Inverness Shinty Club is to offer all young players a pathway in the sport regardless of age, gender or ability. This makes the Inverness Shinty Academy one of the only sporting academies to offer this all round inclusion and participation in Scotland.
We are now working with 15 primary schools, nearly 30 volunteer qualified primary coaches and over 300 children playing shinty every week - with ambitious plans to do much more.
